A visit to Tom’s Cypress is always a treat. The open-air wood store is located on US Hwy. 301 in Waldo, Florida, and always has a great selection of different kinds, shapes and sizes of wood to select from.
My trip to Tom’s Cypress was to select several slices of wood that I can use to create flute stands.
I’m getting ready for the Leesburg Arts Festival, March 12-13, and I’m creating flute stands both to use in displaying my flutes and to be available for sale.
With so many choices — which slices did I decide on?
- Spalted pecan
- Camphor
- Eastern cedar
- Cypress Slabs
Each slice was selected based on its size, thickness and grain. I’m looking forward to sanding and finishing each one and seeing the results. I’ll provide photos of the finished flute stands in a future post.
Let me know if you’d like me to make a flute stand for you.
