Hearing the Southern Ontario Ukulele Players (SOUP) was an added bonus of attending the Home County Folk Festival.
The SOUPers, as they are called, played several songs, including “I’ll Fly Away,” written by Albert E. Brumley in 1929 and considered to be one of the most recorded gospel hymns. You can listen to the SOUPers playing by clicking on the video.
My main interest in attending the festival was to hear the live musical performances and see what musical instruments were for sale.
I’m a fan of the ukulele. My journey in making musical instruments began by making cigarbox ukuleles, studying to make my first Koa ukulele with Mike DaSilva, ukemaker, in Berkeley, California.
