The Glam Craft Festival will be brightening the holiday season on Sunday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the historic Mustang Hangar near the Gainesville Airport.
I’m one of more than 60 artists and crafters who will have their work for sale. If you’re in the Gainesville area, I hope you’ll attend the Glam Craft Festival.
I’ll be selling my wood musical instruments — Native American style flutes and five-string kanteles. Each instrument provides a lifetime of musical enjoyment. You can play solo or with others. And one of the great joys of each instrument is that you don’t have to play following music but can play as the spirit moves you.
I’ve woodturned two special items to add to your holiday spirit.
First, wood candlestick holders with flameless candles provide a festive Christmas mood to any room. Some of the candlestick holders are made from local Gainesville trees and show off their natural wood grain; others are designed with festive colors.
Because the candles are flameless, you don’t have to worry that you left a candle burning or that wax will drip onto a tabletop. The candles can brighten up the holiday dinner table or provide a guiding nightlight for family visiting for the holidays. The candlestick holders are a great one-of-a-kind gift — easy to pack as a housewarming gift or to mail as a gift.
A group of faerie and gnome artists visited me and provided designs for special faerie and gnome doors and Christmas tree ornaments. The doors can be a surprise for a bookshelf or nightstand of a child or an adult who has an imagination or wants a faerie door for the garden. The smaller faerie door Christmas tree ornaments can provide a magical start to a special Christmas story. Some of the doors are natural wood with woodburning, and other doors have the colorful personalities of the faerie and gnome artists who designed them.
Yes, it was a good festival. A good crowd. And yes, at the end of the day it was good to sit down! We will chat again but likely in the New Year when the pace settles down a bit!!
I had such a wonderful tiring time at GLAM! It was great to meet you in person – we should definitely chat again soon!
